Media Alliance to Launch Cartoon Network HD
15.12.2016, Moscow. Media Alliance, one of the largest media businesses in the pay-TV segment in Russia, reinforces its HD portfolio: its flagship children’s channel Cartoon Network launches high-definition (HD) broadcasts. This is Media Alliance’s eighth HD brand – available to the audience alongside Discovery Channel HD, TLC HD, Eurosport 1 HD, Eurosport 2 HD, Animal Planet HD, ID Xtra HD and Discovery Science HD. All CN programming will air in HD: Cartoon Network HD will be a simulcast version of Cartoon Network.
High-definition resolution is now a basic need for the industry, and HD broadcasts have transformed from technological innovation into norm – HD channels enter basic digital TV tiers more and more often. According to the survey conducted by J’son & Partners Consulting, the number of HDTV households grew 40% YoY – to 14.3 million. These findings are the testament to popularity of HD channels – TV and HD broadcasts become inseparable in people’s minds both worldwide and in Russia.
Rostelecom Interactive TV subscribers will be the first to watch Cartoon Network HD across most TV tiers. The audience is in for new episodes of smash-hit series, such as The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Nexo Knights, Ben 10, The Amazing World of Gumball, etc. delivered to them in HD. These are modern animated TV series with charismatic characters that help children develop emotional intellect, creative thinking, and enable them to relax after a day at school and give free reign to their imagination. With that said, all CN content has required age labels, thus helping parents to choose the best content for their children.
‘Cartoon Network entered Media Alliance’s portfolio in 2016, and now, after a little over six months, we are delighted to introduce the audience to the HD version of our flagship children’s brand: as it launches, we will be offering our viewers 8 HD channels. The audience is interested in HD TV, young viewers included – with the launch of Cartoon Network HD their favourite shows become even more vibrant and exciting,’ comments Grigory Lavrov, CEO Media Alliance.
